Valenta organized a scientific symposium in the field of gastroenterology on topic «New Horizons in Study of Co-morbid Functional Gastro-Intestinal Tract Disorders»; it was arranged within the IV International Internet Congress for Internists.
Leading international and Russian experts discussed with doctors the urgency of a problem of comorbid functional gastrointestinal tract disorders, prevalence of the diseases in Russia and in the world, and the importance of timely diagnostics. A.A.Sheptulin, D.M.Sci., Professor at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases of Medical Faculty of Sechenov MSMU; E.A.Poluektova, C.M.Sci., Professor, doctor at the Clinic of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases at the Medical Faculty of Sechenov MSMU; and A.Y.Baranovsky, D.M.Sci., Professor at the Department of Gastroenterology and Dietetics of Mechnikov Northwestern State Medical University, were among the experts. V.T.Ivashkin, D.M.Sci., Professor, Academician of RAMS chaired the symposium.
«As of today, the problems of gastrointestinal tract functional disorders prevail. The results of researches revealed that up to 15% of people suffer from the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and symptoms of functional dyspepsia (FD) are diagnosed in 25% of population. There is an urgent need to optimize the tactics of treatment of patients with GI functional disorders from the very moment of diagnostics and prescription of initial therapy to the control of efficiency and correction of treatment,» notes V.T.Ivashkin, D.M.Sci., Professor, Academician of RAMS, Chief Gastroenterologist at the RF Ministry of Health.
Within the Symposium, Questionnaire 7×7 for assessment of clinical symptoms intensity in patients with FD and IBS made up by the Russian Gastroenterology Association (RGA) in partnership with Valenta was presented. It includes 7 most often occurring gastroenterological symptoms — it is an easy and efficient method of weekly individual assessment of how serious the patient’s condition is. The Questionnaire helps to monitor the dynamics of symptoms in cases of comorbid pathologies of all parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Questionnaire 7×7 is quite an accurate and useful extra tool for diagnostics in the sphere of gastroenterology, allowing quickly and objectively to assess clinical symptoms of FD and IBS, and to reduce the application of instrumental methods of examination in the Russian population of patients.
Ekaterina Zakharova, Medical Director, OAO «Valenta Pharm»: Valenta invests in improvement of medical care quality by means of development of new diagnostic and medical methods and technologies and their introduction in the daily clinical practice. Questionnaire ideology is aimed to cover the request of gastroenterology for development of a method of patient’s self-assessment, which will help to standardize, on the one hand, the approaches to dynamic assessment of the therapy efficiency, and on the other — to keep opportunity of individual approach to choosing adequate therapy for every patient and to secure the obtained effects of treatment for different diseases. Questionnaire 7×7 is a diagnostics tool, which makes possible a sound operation of therapeutic process in each concrete case."
The medical audience showed active interest in the discussion and asked questions, which proved the urgency for having such a tool at the disposal of a Russian doctor.
